Have to go out right after work with just a few minutes to get yourself party-ready? Follow these simple steps to make the most of the makeup you've had on all day:
1. Moisturize areas that are dry and blot the parts of your face that are oily.
2. Refresh the color on your cheeks.
3. Powder up! Tone down shine, apply shimmer powder to your cheekbones for a great glow.
4. Touch up your mascara, darken your eye liner, and add a deep shadow to your lid and eye crease for that smokey look.
5. Glide on the gloss! Deepen your lip color and liner.
6. To add volume to your hair, turn your head upside down and spray with a volumizer into the roots.
7. Use a shine spray for a healthy look.
Our make-up artist, Gina, says this is not the time of year to be afraid of color! She says evening parties make for great opportunities to play around and sample new shades. Try a deeper lip color like red, garnet, or burgandy; and don't forget those sexy, smokey eye shadows (grays, dark browns and taupes). These rich tones work beautifully with soft evening lighting. Decorate your eyes even more with colored mascara. Try a burgundy or a purple tone for blue eyes and for brown eyes, try a blue or green mascara.
Do you have the desire to wear that red lipstick of the season, but can't work up the nerve? Try a sheer red gloss or lip stain. When selecting your red, consider:
Cool skin tones Pink undertones are best in reds that have a pink or berry undertone. Brick reds, blue reds and plum reds are also good choices.
Warm skin tones Yellow or olive undertones should be paired with orange tone reds, tomato tone reds, brown reds or golden reds. Deep reds look fabulous on darker skin.
- Choose a reflective foundation or mix a highlighter with your foundation for a beautiful healthy glow.
- Try some false lashes to make your eyes sparkle! They're easy to apply with a little practice. Watch Gina's false eyelash application tips
- For a quick pop of color. Try a colored eyeliner with a touch of glitter or shimmer. Go for green or blue - a color you would not usually wear. Silver and gold are the colors of the season, and both also work well as a liner! (You don't have to line the whole eye, you can line just the top or just the bottom).
These tips are fun to try, and can give you a little extra special feeling for the holiday season. In the end, go with whatever fits your own style. Being comfortable and confident will allow you to pull off any look. Try these tips at home and see how you feel. Remember, it all washes off!
