The secret to making any food a skinny food is in the ingredients. Don't deprive yourself (that can work against you in a lot of ways). Don't skip breakfast. Eat to keep your metabolism going throughout the day. We'll teach you tricks that you can use to cook and eat yourself thin!

No-Guilt Power Foods, Plus Thin Thinking

Grow healthier as you grow older with the help of these foods!

Try these recipes based on some of the Anti-Aging Skinny Foods:

PAN GRILLED LEMON PEPPER SALSA SALMON (Serves 2)

This is great served with whole grain rice.

What Do I Need?

2 salmon fillets
non-stick cooking spray
1 teaspoon lemon pepper
1/2 fresh lemon
1 cup grape tomatoes, chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
1/3 cup onion, finely chopped
1/3 cup fresh cilantro, chopped (or a few shakes dried cilantro)
salt and pepper to taste

How Do I Make It?

1. Spray skilled with non-stick cooking spray. Place salmon fillets in skillets and cook on medium heat for five to six minutes on both sides.

2. Add all of the other ingredients and continue cooking until tomatoes and onions are soft and salmon is fully cooked.

CITRUS SALAD WITH ALMONDS

This is a fantastic refreshing salad, full of many of the anti-aging superfoods!

What Do I Need?

2 oranges
1 grapefruit (we used red)
2 tablespoons orange juice
2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
sugar or sweetener to taste
1 bag of spring mix salad greens
1/4 cup slivered almonds

How Do I Make It?

1. Cut the peel and white membrane off of each of the citrus fruits and then cut the fruit sections into bite sized pieces, removing the seeds as you go along. Do this in a bowl so that you can save the juice from the fruit that will come out as you work with it.

2. In a small bowl, whisk together the orange juice, olive oil, vinegar and sugar/sweetener. Pour this dressing over the fruit and stir to coat.

3. Serve by placing some of the salad greens on a plate, top with the fruit mixture, and then some of the almonds.

GUILT FREE Party Dip

This a great, safe recipe to have ready to serve at your house, or take with you when you're visiting friends and family.

Blend together or finely chop:
Tomatoes
Garlic
Black Olives
Capers
White Wine vinegar
Fresh Basil

Serve along with veggies or whole-wheat oven toasted pita chips for dipping.

Thin Thinking

Why do you eat? Ask yourself that question. Do you eat because you're truly hungry, or do you eat because you're feeling pressured? Sad? Tired? Bored? Try to start a new relationship with food. Start by listening to your body. Really listening - and waiting for when it tells you that it needs more fuel.

1. Eat when your hungry

2. Stop when you are full

3. Everything in moderation

Skinny Bruschetta

I love bruschetta. Here's a recipe for one with a twist that will be a hit at any party. It's fast, easy, fresh, and healthy eating!

Bruschetta

What Do I Need?

Whole Wheat French bread sticks (you can buy them from your bakery or as frozen loaves that you bake)
Extra Virgin Light olive oil
Coarse salt and cracked pepper
Garlic cloves
Tomatoes, thinly sliced
Fresh Spinach leaves
Feta Cheese, crumbled

How Do I Make It?

1. Slice the bread about 1 ½ inches thick. Place slices on a cookie sheet and bake in a 350-degree oven for a few minutes.

2. Remove from oven and rub the toasted bread slices with the garlic clove.

3. Drizzle slices with olive oil. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Top with spinach leaves, and the tomato slices. Top with crumbled feta cheese. Broil for just about a minute. Serve and enjoy!

Note: Change this recipe up a bit by using sliced red peppers instead of the tomatoes.
